The Cornelia Hospitality and Tourism Board is made up of business people that live in Cornelia or work in Cornelia that are interested in promoting tourism.
Dee Anderson -President Dee was born and raised on Tybee Island, GA. He graduated from Benedictine Military School in Savannah in 1992 and later graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1998. Dee graduated from Savannah State University with a Masters of Public Administration in 2002. Dee served as the Mayor Pro Tem for Tybee Island from 1998 to 2000 and he served as the Assistant City Manager for Tybee Island from 2002 to 2006. Dee has served as the City Manager for Cornelia since 2006. Dee is happily married to Linda since 2013 and they live with their 2 dogs Bill and Sam!
Heath Barret - Treasurer Heath was born, raised and has lived his Habersham County his entire life. He graduated from Habersham Central in 2003 and began his working career in the banking industry with a local community bank in 2004. He graduated from Banking School in 2009 from the University of Georgia. Heath later turned his career towards the insurance industry and has been the owner of Allstate - The Barrett Agency since 2015 located in Cornelia, GA. Heath has served on numerous boards, including the Cornelia Downtown Development Authority, as a past Chairman and current Treasurer. The Habersham County Rotary Board and several other civic duties in Cornelia and Habersham County. Heath, his wife, Jessica Barrett and their daughter Ansley live in Mount Airy. He loves doing yardwork and taking care of his land, being an avid outdoorsman, supporting the community and being involved in sports within the communities and local schools. Heath is also in the Habersham Central High School - Hall of Fame for Basketball.
Kimberly Reed - Board Member Kimberly Reed was born in Cornelia and has deep connections to the community. Kim graduated from Habersham Central High School in 1992 and began her banking career at Habersham Bank in 1993. In 2000 Kim left banking and worked with her father in his small Cornelia business, The Hollow Log. After eleven years, Kim returned to banking and is currently employed as branch manager at United Community Bank in Cornelia.
Kim has served as Treasure and volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 24 since 2008. She is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Habersham. Since 2016, Kim has served as a Habersham County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. She is a member of SOAR a Habersham county Chamber of Commerce executive women’s group. Kim and her husband, Jay Reed, own Creekside Cleaners in Cornelia. They have been married since 1995 and have two children, Jackson and Hailey.
Michael Harvey - Vice President Michael was born in Georgia, but raised in Asheboro, North Carolina, He graduated from Southwestern Randolph High School in 1994 and attended Central Carolina Community College’s Radio and TV Broadcasting School. He started his radio career in Asheboro in 1994 at WKXR, The Kickin’ Chicken! and traveled a career path up and down the dial in the Carolinas until he ended up in Cornelia, GA. In 2015, Michael went to work for his family business’, Harvey’s Gate and Fence, in Clayton, GA and Franklin Fence Inc. in Franklin, NC.
Michael served for many years on the Cornelia Better Hometown Board as Chairman, and Chaired the Habersham Recreation Board. Michael has 2 children.
Linda Anderson - Secretary Linda grew up in Miami, Florida and moved to the north Georgia mountains in 1970. She considers herself a southerner with a large southern family. After over 30 years at The Times in Gainesville, she became the Publisher of the Dawson News and Advertiser and went on to work at the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Currently she is part of the WCON 99.3 team and enjoys being part of a radio station that is in touch with the community. She is married to Dee Anderson and has three children. Her greatest joy is her six grandchildren. Linda is an avid Braves fan and cheers for UGA. NASCAR is in her blood since her father built Bobby Allison’s first race cars. Weekends will find her and Dee camping or spending time with family.
Stan Crump - Board Member Stan grew up in Baldwin, Georgia and has been active in retail for over 30 years and served in the church for 28 years. Stan helped open Ace Hardware in Cornelia and helped plant two churches. Stan is the Marketing Director for Cornelia Ace Hardware and Serves as Care Pastor at Connextion Church.
Stan and his family enjoy looking for the local nuggets at home and on vacation. He wants others to discover the hospitality of those living in Cornelia and Habersham County. A recent conversation with a new business owner revealed that Cornelia had the friendliest people of their world travels.
